Demand for More Christian Fiction
It comes as no surprise that the demand for Christian fiction and speculative titles is on the rise. Leading publishers like Tyndale, Harper Collins, and HarperCollins are swiftly adapting to meet this demand, releasing more fiction titles than ever before. Nevertheless, there is still a need for more, and this is where Christian authors are stepping up to the plate.
Enter Realm Makers, a writer’s conference designed for aspiring (and established) fiction authors seeking to learn how to pitch, publish, and promote their fantasy, Sci-Fi, and other speculative fiction works. Held annually in St. Louis, Missouri, Realm Makers is a three-day conference that brings authors and writers together to learn from successful authors and industry professionals.

These are just a few of the empowering sessions you can find by attending the Realm Maker’s Conference. On Friday night, an awards banquet is hosted where finalists from each category anxiously await to see if they will take home a coveted Realm Award. One of the best parts? The captivating costume contest on stage, where characters from books, movies, and TV shows strut their stuff in front of hundreds of attendees.
So, how big is the Realm Maker’s family? You’ll be intrigued to know that the Realm Maker’s tribe of conference attendees and participants on their online platform has grown exponentially over the past few years. Since last year, which was a record-breaker, attendance has grown by more than 25%. If this trend continues, they will soon have to search for a new venue.
Writers who attend Realm Makers are truly gifted. Steve Laube, president of Enclave Publishing, expressed in an article by Ann Byle of Publisher’s Weekly that he finds the creativity among Christian writers “breathtaking.”
Large Christian publishers are beginning to take notice as well. Their hope? To transform the world of Christian fiction, with the aspiration of drawing others to appreciate the creative stories God inspires in writers and, perhaps, to understand and expand the kingdom of Christ along the way.
