We are honored to introduce Dawn Carter, finish editor, grammar Nazi, and a truly wonderful addition to Descendant Publishing’s tribe of contract talent.
Writing is difficult, but editing is difficulter. (“More difficult” *Edit Dawn Carter). When a manuscript is complete, any good author understands that his/her writing is only as good as the editors who sweep up the pencil dust behind them. They are often the unsung heroes in a book, and are content to see their names buried somewhere on the title page. So today, we would like to honor Dawn and her contributions to the Descendants of Light Series, The Watcher Key and The Watcher Tower. Here’s a bit about Dawn:
Dawn is a stay-home PTA mom, avid reader, and self-proclaimed “grammar Nazi”. She has a BA in Journalism that had been collecting dust for 20 years, until she took a leap of faith and jumped into the free-lance editing world. She initially got started editing by helping a friend that self-published a wonderful book that happened to have some grammatical errors. Not wanting him to get raked over the coals by reviewers for something that could be so easily fixed, she read the book, sent corrections as she read, and an editor was born.Dawn has been married to Gary for 23 years, and they are the proud parents of Kelly (20), Ryan (16), and Jeremy (9).In her free time she loves to read (of course!), volunteer at her children’s school, walk and enjoy nature, and take pictures of sunrises, sunsets and the clouds.
